The Hogwarts Express arrives at Hogsmeade Station as The Wizarding World of Harry Potter continues to develop at Universal Orlando Resort. As guests enter Hogsmeade, they will be greeted by the iconic, smoke-billowing steam engine, made famous in the Harry Potter books and films for transporting students to a world of magic and wonder. Opening in Spring 2010 only at Universal Orlando Resort, The Wizarding World of Harry Potter will feature multiple themed attractions, shops and a restaurant.
Wizarding World of Harry Potter to open in spring 2010, new info
The Wizarding World of Harry Potter theme park will open in spring of 2010. The announcement was made by Tom Felton (Draco Malfoy in the films). We'll have more news soon, but for now, some goss:
- A roller coaster built around the first task of the Triwizard Tournament (thrill ride)
- A "family ride" built around Care of Magical Creatures and Buckbeak's flight
- A revolutionary ride in the Hogwarts castle called "Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey"
- Enter the park via Hogsmeade and visit a number of shops
- Butterbeer and pumpkin juice will be sold
- A new line of 'Potter' merchandise will be sold
- An eleven-minute featurette with more information will be available on the 'Half-Blood Prince' DVD
New photos of the Wizarding World of Harry Potter
Numerous photos have recently appeared online which show the construction of the upcoming Harry Potter theme park. The photos show what could possibly be a completed part of a Hogwarts wall, and several buildings that resemble the Hogsmeade area – with artificial snow and all!
New photos of 'Harry Potter' theme park now online
Several new photos of The Wizarding World of Harry Potter theme park have surfaced online. The photos show construction of the Hogwarts castle and Hogsmeade area.
New Wizarding World poll and concept art released
The Wizarding World of Harry Potter has updated their official site to include a new poll asking which dragon you would rather ride- the choices being a Hungarian Horntail or a Chinese Fireball. A new piece of concept art also portrays Hogsmeade's Dervish and Banges.
Tom Felton visits Universal Studios in Florida
Tom Felton, Draco Malfoy in the Harry Potter series, recently visited Orlando's Universal Studios along with girlfriend Jade Gordon. During their visit, Tom posed for a photograph beside a Ministry of Magic proclamation teasing construction of The Wizarding World of Harry Potter park.
The Wizarding World of Harry Potter is currently being built at Universal's Islands of Adventure park and will be open to the public in 2010.
