Publishers Bloomsbury (UK) and Scholastic (US) will publish a HBO TV series tie-in edition of the first Harry Potter book, Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone. Available from 3 November, the tie-in edition will mark the first time the first ‘Potter’ book has been published in the USA with its original title, Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone.
The first book was titled Sorcerer’s Stone in the USA when it was released in 1998 because the US publisher worried that ‘philosopher’ wouldn’t appeal as strongly to younger audiences. (Fun fact: it was nearly called Harry Potter and the School of Magic.)
