Alan Horn addresses fans regarding HBP delay - Harry Potter Fan Zone

Alan Horn, COO of Warner Bros. pictures, today addressed fans regarding the delayed release of Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince.
Many of you have written to me to express your disappointment in our moving “Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince” to Summer 2009.  Please be assured that we share your love for Harry Potter and would certainly never do anything to hurt any of the films.  Over the past 10 years, we have nurtured and protected each film, and the integrity of the books upon which they are based, to the best of our ability.  The decision to move “Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince” was not taken lightly, and was never intended to upset our Harry Potter fans.  We know you have built this series into what it is, and we thank you for your ongoing enthusiasm and support.  If I may offer a silver lining: there would have been a two-year gap between “Half-Blood Prince” and the much-anticipated first part of “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows,” which opens in November 2010.  So although we have to wait a little longer for “Half-Blood Prince,” the wait from that film until “Deathly Hallows” will be less than 18 months.  I am sorry to have disappointed you now, but if you hold on a little longer, I believe it will be worth the wait.

i must say, at first i was REALLY peaved at WB for moving HPHB, but now we don't have to wait too long for DH1. i guess they do have a good reason and it will probably work for the better.

I was caught up in the frenzy surrounding the announcement, and after time, I was able to calm down. It bugged me though that there was no apologies for the change. Mr. Horn has now taken care of it. I feel the decision was not really a bad one…but it was bad timing….extremely bad timing.

At least we won't have to wait so long for the next one. I would personaly rather wait 18 months rather than 2 years! Don't you agree?

Mr. Horn's statement reminds me of seeing Queen Elizabeth on TV a few days after Diana Spencer was killed.
I hope you understand that the decision appears on the surface to be motivated by greed.
Waiting longer for the next film will be worth it if:
-the special effects are brilliant and seamless.
-the post-production values are very high.
-it is more than two hours long.
Here's hoping the hackers don't take out their frustrations on you.

I agree what Alan had said. "Never intending to upset the fans". However, in my perspective and behalf of all the fans I think this is a huge dissapointment. Money? Is that all you think of? is that all you want to get from the loyal fans? Isthat what you do for a living?
Think before you do and do what is best.
I have full respect to the authority, but by doing just for the sake of money, it's way too much, clearly you doesn't even cared everyone feels. Low empathy. HP, has done well. How much more money do you guys really want? What's more? Fortune? Wealthy? Please, people are dying of inflation and poverty. People now, are becoming poorer, thanks to people who are "smart", getting money from middle-class people just because they are better in business and superior in money.
Eventhough your kind words of speech soothe us, we are still dissapointed and much dissapointed when you guys trying to make us better but you knew underneath your heart that you are lying. How could you be that brutal? We still are dissapointed even you tried to please us with your kind words.
Money never made a man happy yet, nor will it. There is nothing in its nature to produce happiness. The more a man has, the more he wants. Instead of its filling a vacuum, it makes one.
