Sounds like they only did it to make more money…which makes sense, but why would they tell fans? And they didn't they choose a summer release date in the first place?
Written by Matt on August 14 at 21:49 GMT

that is really bogus. i was SOOO looking forward to seeing the movie within the next few months now i have to wait 11!!!!! i can't wait that long!!
Written by Andrew on August 14 at 21:54 GMT

I WB made A horrible choice in doing this….YOu are just greedy people, abousing the biggest fanbase in the world. And you know what, were not going to take this junk from you. How could you think in your right mind and delay the release date by 11months when you have already made a trailer in from on many best selling movies like dark knight with a release date of Nov. 21. All you want is money, money, money and more money. Just as many people will come in November as they would in July. Yous all at WB just want another hit like Dark Knight. Well, its not goiing to happen the way you've made the release date so much later, and how you've confused many people as well. THE FAN ARE NOT HAPPY! And did yo know J.K rowling is releasing a new book called HARRY POTTER AND THE ATTACK AND DEFEAT OF LORD WARNER BROS.????

This is a shame !!!! The WB only wants to make money. They don't respect the fan!
We will see the two episodes of the last book in 2013 et 2015, if they continue like this!!!

obviously because TDK did so well this summer. they say because they want a summer tentpole movie and want it to make more money. it's harry potter for god's sake! it's gonna make the same amount of money either way! jesus, do they even care about the fans? while counting down to three more months we have to wait eleven now? damn, i was starting to gain respect for WB after how they handled TDK but now i have none. when they announced the seventh film to be split into two parts it was to make more money. as if they don't have enough money after TDK they make us wait longer? then they go on "hey at least you'll have a shorter wait until the next film(s)!" yeah, how great. we waited more than a year patiently, and just as we are coming up on it, they have to move it right from underneath us. the film is probably almost done. just maybe a month or so. so i guess HBP will just have to sit on a shelf collecting dust for 11 more months. this film better be damn good for making us wait even longer. thank you WB, you have just moved up the ranks with 20th Century Fox and Sony as the most greedy studios out there! thanks for loosing our respect from you! you are what we call greedy. fat, greedy, money hungry pigs.

This morning when i heard the news i was livid! how dare warner bros show trailers, advertise and do everything they can to promote afilm which tehy are now postponing due to "writers strike" and "making more money in the summer"…the only reason they are postponing it is to make more money and to fill their wallets, dont they no this is the biggest fanbase of all time and it is US who pays their salaries???? warner bros is nothing but a pack of greedy, ignorant, disgraceful pigs who dont think of anyone but their own paypackets. Harry potter fans all over the world should unite and do a petition, get one made, signed and sent off to them.. We have a voice, lets use it! o and for the comment on making more money in the summer/??? nomatter what date you release a film of harry potter *be it christmas day* it will still be a massive hit as harry potter gathers the biggest crowd, Warner bros must be thick to not know that. JK Rowling is probably as unimpressed as the fans are hurt and at least she puts fans first.

I am shocked that WB would betray all us fans to line it's own pockets. It is a disgrace that they would do this to us. What's more, the movie is FINISHED, so it will sit for 8 months. They will not be making it better. We must unite! We can change this. Sign petitions, boycott, do everything you can to get the rightful release date back. Sending e-mails to complain is great, but may i recommend good old-fashioned mail? If we can clog up their post with letters complaining, they may crack. They are already under strain as we can see in their recent statement. They love us… HAH! They are just in this for the money and are greedy fools. We can defeat them. We have to get our release date back. If not, I personally will boycott the first week of the movie. I've waited so long, i guess I can wait longer. Wouldn't it be great if no one went to the midnight release? Or if we all showed up on November 21 at our local theater and asked for tickets for Harry Potter? We have to make our voices heard.

I really have to wonder if there aren't some serious probalems with this film. The last one was choppy even though I had read the book numerous times and could make the connections between the sound bite type scenes. Maybe their choice of director is coming back to bite them on the backside.
I say this because the studio heads just recently viewed the film, and suddenly they move it back 8 months. Maybe for a complete re-edit?

So, today is the obviously the worst day of the summer for us Potter fans.
Even worse than the wait for the HBP teaser trailer, which I have to say for me, was worth the wait !
Today, is also the day the WB sunk lower than low.
Today Warner Brothers has basically called us a bunch of Idiots to our faces !!! They have basically said we are such stupid fangirls/fanboys that we will flock to a movie no matter when then decide to release.
They said we'll give a press release to them that basically tells ays we are movie the Harry Potter movie back til July ,so our already billion dollar company can make even more money. And OH! This will work because you know those kids that love the series, the characters, the plot, and the author whole- heartdly will come no matter when its released !!!!
(And Ive even heard from a friend, there doing this to make room for the Dark Knight so it can continue to earn the big bucks, through November and maybe earn more than Titanic, but thats just a rumor !)
To me, this is UNFORGIVEABLE !!!!!!!!!!
The movie is done, finished, post production has been completed as scheduled. Thats what makes this even more annoying… the movie is COMPLETELY done, yet their sitting on it for 9 months. They're not editing it, fixing it, buffing it up, nothing. The movie they have now is the same thing we"ll be watching nearly a year from now. That is most disturbing part !!
So because of blatant attempt by WB to make us look like fools,I purpose we as fans show the WB we are not pushovers and hit them where it hurts !!! The box office !!!!
I will sign these petition floating around, even though we all know from years of experience this will go nowhere, and I wont boycott the WB because we also all know if we stop buying there merchandise it also wont help.
So I say we dont see the movie !!! Before you turn a deaf ear!!! Please hear me out !!!!! Because I know all of us as Potter fans will still go and see the movie , but I purpose not one fan but a ticket for opening night of the movie !!!!!
We Have, i believe 355 more days whats one more ???? That means no midnight releases and NO FRIDAY SHOWS AT ALL !!!!! Because if you think about it opening night is one of the most important nights of opening weekend !!! We would be proving a point to the WB that we, the fans and customer, should have a say in the movies !!!!
(Also, I feel instead of these petitons how bout we righ letters to Leavenden Studios and WB, fill there mailboxs with mail like the Dursleys House, make rants on Youtube, make videos and send them to the WB, write to entertainment magazines and Newspapers something that will get us heard !!!! )
So, I say all this to say, lets finally be heard as fans and the co-creaters of this franchise like we actually are and not be patient and fight for our right to be HEARD !!!!
If your older sibling told you to wait while they opened your christmas presents and then told you to wait 8 months until they would give it to you would you wait or would you fight for was rightfully yours. I hope you guys would take the ladder !!
So, I opened this topic to see how you guys would feel about this and to hear how you reacted when you heard.
- Sophie
P.s. - sry for any typos or grammatical errors, just started ranting and got a little into it !!

How could they!!!!
I was looking forward to the movie coming out
in November (plus all the pics in the magazines!),
but no, they HAD to move it to next year
July!!! If they wanted to move to another date,
they could have moved it to the 1st of January

And not 'Avada Kedavra',
Crucio Warner Brothers!!!!

Horn, you self centered jerk we are not yours or the WB fans. We are J.K. fans. I just can’t believe when she gave you the right to make her books into movies’ she thought you would treat her fans like this. I really hope she put out another set of books on hogwarts and this time let Paramount do them.

WB has made a HUGE mistake!! How dare they hold the HBP hostage!! My family and friends will not be going to the theater to see any more of WB movies.. I hope they have enjoyed our money, they wont be getting anymore. The fans have made HP the icon he is, not WB!! SOOO Angry!!
Written by cleo on August 17 at 14:26 GMT

The only way to impact Warner Bros. is to seriously hit them in the wallet. Personally, I'm boycotting their films until the movie is released. If the July release stands, I may even wait until the DVD is released. The greedy bastards need a lesson & the books are better anyway.
Written by Jon on August 18 at 15:35 GMT

How does WB delaying this movie mean that there getting more money, i dont seem to understand this.
P.S. SHAME ON YOU FOR DELAYING THIS MOVIE THAT WAS A VERY BIG MOVIE I WAS LOOKING FORWARD TO!!!!
Written by Sheldon Berglund on August 19 at 03:49 GMT

I agree with marsha PARAMOUNT should have made these films…so we can be treated as equals!

Ok, firstly i'd like to say i'm the biggest harry potter fan out there. i'v read all the books like a million times each and watched the films even more. Seriously, i'm probably the worlds no.1 fan. I'd also like to say that i am totally disgusted by the delay of Harry Potter And The Half-Blood Prince. I was really looking forward to it. But now i'm going to have to wait till next year now. Well, i'm going to have to wait even more, as i'll be abroad at my cousins wedding. And i watch Harry Potter the day it comes out in cinema but i guess i'll have to give that a miss. It would be a dream come true for me to meet Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson and Rupert Grint. I'd just love that. Whoever suggested the delay of Harry Potter i hope you're happy as i was extremely happy about the release in November. Well, NOW YOU'VE REALISED HOW THE DFEA;Y HAS MADE HARRY POTTER FANS FEEL SO HOPEFULLY YOU'LL HAVE CHANGED YOUR MIND. AND BY THE WAY IF ANYONE HAS GOT DANIEL, EMMA OR RUPERTS EMAIL ADDRESS PLEASE GIVE IT TO ME. ANYWAY, BYE BYE XXX

Hi everyone!
I'm from Spain. I heard this new today and I couldn't believe it!! I was so excited to watch the movie on November and we have to wait 8 months?? I'm really disappointed and I don't even know if I will go on July 2009. I will wait to the DVD. WB has to wonder why they make money… thanks to us!!! This is not the way to treat us. A BIG MISTAKE!! I hope you WB people read all these comments and how fans feel with this decision.

I'm a 58 year old grandmother and a HUGE Harry Potter fan! In fact, it's my hope that if I ever get overly senile that I no longer know where I am, that I will have gone to Hogwarts in my mind to teach quantum physics! Possibly WB thinks that all Harry Potter fans are kids who wont do anything about this delay they've cooked up, and if so, they've greatly underestimated HP's unprecidented fan base. I'm impressed with your blogs. If you follow through with not attending the opening weekend, and if all the adult HP fans add their voices to the mix, maybe WB will think twice next time they think about snatching away something that has been promised to us. Accio! Half Blood Prince!
